Educational construction is facing major challenges: schools and daycare centers must be built more quickly, costs must be kept stable and environmental goals must be achieved. At the same time, the demands on spatial quality and flexibility are increasing. Serial and modular construction could be a decisive answer to this – efficient, sustainable and economically well thought out.
At the SCHULBAU Salon & Messe Leipzig 2025, Daniel Keller, Head of Technical Services at Strabag/Züblin, will be talking about exactly this approach. He helped develop the MOLENO® wood-hybrid construction system, which shows how educational buildings could be planned and realized in the future.
More wood, less CO₂
Building with wood is becoming increasingly important. The renewable raw material stores CO₂, improves the indoor climate and strengthens regional value chains. The MOLENO® system relies on a modular wood-hybrid construction method that combines serial construction with sustainable materials. Prefabricated building elements allow buildings to be erected more quickly and also adapted to changing requirements.
This approach offers great advantages, especially in the field of education: classrooms, group rooms and administrative wings can be planned in a standardized manner and yet individually configured. This creates functional, resource-saving learning spaces that remain economical in the long term.
Daniel Keller from Strabag/Züblin: Expert knowledge at SCHULBAU Leipzig 2025
Daniel Keller has been working in the construction industry for many years. After studying civil engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt, he started at Strabag/Züblin, initially as a construction and project manager for turnkey building projects. He later took over the management of tender processing and is now Head of Technical Services and is largely responsible for the development of new construction methods. His knowledge of sustainable construction processes and efficient construction procedures makes him an important driving force for the future of educational construction.
How can serial construction methods be designed sustainably? What potential does wood offer in school construction? And how can modular construction remain flexible in the long term? These questions are the focus of Daniel Keller’s lecture on April 15, 2025 in the Expert LAB at SCHULBAU Leipzig .
The SCHULBAU Salon & Messe offers the opportunity to exchange ideas about current developments in educational construction from April 15 to 16, 2025 in the Alte Wollkämmerei Leipzig . In addition to specialist lectures, visitors can expect practical insights into sustainable construction methods and future-proof spatial concepts.
A must-attend event for anyone who wants to actively participate in shaping sustainable educational construction.
