Many guests had travelled from Vienna and all over Austria to the first SCHULBAU Compact Salon in the Danube metropolis. This resulted in good discussions in a cosy atmosphere with full catering. It all took place in the charming Expedithalle on 11 May 2022. The lecture programme was internationally oriented and compact – with seven focal points related to the most important topics in Vienna and Austria in 2022.
Over the next ten years, the Austrian Federal Government will invest €2.4 billion in new construction, remodelling and renovation of federal schools, and there will be around 270 construction projects across the country. In Vienna, around 100 additional classes will be built every year until 2025 to provide the necessary school space.
The major school development programme to boost modernisation and digitalisation was the reason why Director and Project Manager Kirsten Jung and the team from Cubus Medien Verlag travelled to Vienna to organise the SCHULBAU compact salon
Architecture Tour Vienna in advance
Already the day before, on 10 May 2022, interested parties had the opportunity to visit two outstanding Viennese school projects exclusively with us. The architectural tour of Vienna led to the Federal School in the lakeside town of Aspern, designed by fuchs&fasch.architekten, which was awarded the State Prize for Architecture and Sustainability. The second project we looked at together was the educational campus “Liselotte Hansen Schmidt”, which will open in autumn 2021 and is planned by Karl und Bremhorst Architekten, using geothermal energy, solar energy and storage mass in a sophisticated combination. Those responsible for the construction – Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) and the City of Vienna – as well as the architects presented the projects in detail.
The meeting of decision-makers on school construction
All decision-makers in the field of school construction were present at the SCHULBAU Compact Salon and quickly networked with the exhibitors and with each other. The event’s sponsors, the City of Vienna, the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) and the Architektenkammer (Chamber of Architects) were also represented on site and available to talk directly to visitors.
The small, exclusive concept of the SCHULBAU compact salon offered all participants a compact educational day. The 154 guests listened to lectures on school construction by our experts from Austria, Denmark and Germany at long tables. During the breaks, everyone had time to exchange ideas and network. Many new ideas and contacts were made!
