SCHULBAU Think-Tank Copenhagen 2025: How German-Danish exchange shapes educational construction
What can Germany and Denmark learn from each other when it comes to building and designing schools? Which approaches have proven successful and which new paths are being discussed? These questions are the focus of the SCHULBAU Think Tank Copenhagen 2025, which will take place on June 3, 2025. The German-Danish Chamber of Commerce is a partner of the event and underlines the importance of cross-border dialogue. One of the key drivers is Andreas Wenzel, Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce, who uses his knowledge to build a bridge between the two countries.
Andreas Wenzel: Mediator between two educational cultures
Andreas Wenzel has headed the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce in Copenhagen since 2023. His focus is on promoting economic and structural cooperation – with a particular focus on sustainable infrastructure projects, education and knowledge transfer. As part of the SCHULBAU Think Tank, he highlights:
“Whether it’s business, infrastructure or education – as the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce, we promote the diverse exchange of knowledge and best practices between Germany and Denmark. We are therefore delighted to be a partner of this year’s International SCHULBAU Festival in Copenhagen, thus further strengthening German-Danish cooperation.”
This cooperation enables an intensive exchange of experiences about school building projects that have been successfully implemented in both countries. Looking beyond national borders shows how different approaches can provide new impetus for future educational buildings.
German-Danish Dialogue for Sustainable School Buildings
In Denmark, it has long been standard practice to design schools as open, multifunctional places that enrich the entire district beyond the classroom. Germany, on the other hand, is still faced with the challenge of adapting existing structures to new educational and social requirements. How both approaches can be profitably combined will be discussed at the SCHULBAU Think Tank Copenhagen 2025.
The program offers specialist lectures, workshops and excursions to school buildings that can serve as role models. Experts from both countries analyze which materials, spatial concepts and structural measures have a positive influence on everyday school life. The aim is to learn from realized projects and to jointly develop strategies for sustainable educational architecture.
SCHULBAU Think-Tank Copenhagen 2025: Meeting point for architects and planners
The event brings together architects, planners, school authorities, decision-makers and private and public investors from both countries. The focus is on sustainability, multifunctional learning spaces and the adaptation of existing buildings. Excursions lead to school buildings that impress with clever architecture and well-thought-out concepts.
The partnership of the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce will further strengthen cross-border exchange – a decisive factor for the further development of the educational architecture in both countries.
