Julia Erdmann
On June 3, 2025, the SCHULBAU Festival will open its doors in Copenhagen at the Trifolium. The event is dedicated to the future of educational construction and places life and coexistence at the center of architecture. A special highlight: the contribution by Julia Erdmann and Indra Musiol, who will present their “9 Socialtecture Principles of Life”.
Julia Erdmann and Indra Musiol: Pioneers of Socialtecture
Julia Erdmann, founder of JES Socialtecture, and Indra Musiol, partner at JES, have developed Socialtecture, an approach that thinks about architecture and urban planning from the perspective of life. Their nine timeless “Principles of Life” serve as a guideline for creating sustainable places that enable good coexistence. The focus is on the communal (“social”), from which the spatial (“tecture”) arises .
Schools as lively neighborhood centers
A central theme of the festival is the role of schools as multifunctional places in the neighborhood. Through flexible spatial concepts, schools can also serve as social meeting places that enrich life in the district. In their contribution, Julia Erdmann and Indra Musiol will show how the principles of social tecture can be applied to design schools that meet the needs of the community .
Sustainable Transformation of Educational Spaces
Another focus is on the sustainable redesign of existing educational spaces. Through careful adjustments, schools can be designed to be ecologically and socially sustainable. The application of the “9 Socialtecture Principles of Life” offers a valuable approach to creating educational spaces that both meet the requirements of today and are sustainable.
