Thank you to everyone who came to the Carl Benz Arena in Stuttgart on February 28 and 29. When decision-makers talk to manufacturers about modern and sustainable schools, architects network with international guests, politicians and officials present exemplary building projects, it can only be the SCHULBAU Salon & Messe.

When decision-makers talk to manufacturers about modern and sustainable schools, architects network with international guests, and politicians and authorities present exemplary building projects, it can only be the SCHULBAU Salon & Messe.

The renowned educational event invited to the first meeting of the year and thus opened the series of trade fairs for 2024. Numerous industry representatives gathered information at the stands and listened to the stage program. The energy was palpable everywhere: everyone wanted to be involved in presenting the paths to the sustainable educational buildings of the future.

Founder and CEO Kirsten Jung welcomed well-known players from Stuttgart’s school construction scene and opened the first day of the SCHULBAU Salon & Messe together with the mayor of the state capital Stuttgart, Isabel Fezer, head of the youth and education department.

On the second day of the fair, Kerstin Niendorf, the new head of the school administration of the City of Stuttgart, spoke about words, facts and courage when it comes to school construction in Stuttgart and the surrounding area.

New format “At the kitchen table”

Several experts addressed current topics in educational construction.
The kitchen table was set up in the auditorium on the same level as the audience. In this relaxed atmosphere, particularly interesting discussions could take place on topics such as living and learning in sustainable building materials or the demand for all-day rooms.

Sustainable projects

Moderators Hannah Pinell and Monica Tusinean skillfully guided the audience through the program and brought new dynamics to the discussions.

The topic of sustainability was addressed as a key requirement from various sides. For example, in the presentation by Michael Glück, a landscape architect from bdla, who highlighted the challenges of sustainable, climate-adapted construction. Visitors to the fair experienced sustainability and particularly impressive perspectives in the international presentations. Architect Kristina Ziadeh presented the clay brick building “Rising Star School” in Harare, Zimbabwe, under the title “Ran an den Lehm”. The pedagogical integration principle “New York Nest” from Danish schools was presented by Martin Roald Schrøder Poulsen. “Accept change as a permanent state – think in terms of the goal – just do it!” Andreas Hein delivered this challenge in his presentation. The former head of the school administration in Stuttgart and current Mayor of Education, Social Affairs and Culture in the city of Friedrichshafen focused on the potential of small towns and struck a nerve in the industry with his appeal.

With the momentum of the Stuttgart fair, we have now opened the year 2024!

On April 16 and 17, we invite the industry to Frankfurt am Main for another exchange of ideas.
Retrofitting – transformation of buildings and spaces/interiors – circular construction – open space/landscape/climate – serial construction – vocational training and craftsmanship – innovative education through movement and sport – these are all topics that move us in Frankfurt. In the metropolis on the Main, we will work with you to find answers in all these areas. Exciting projects and many innovations are waiting for you. Another celebration of contract awards and contacts awaits us all. Until then, we will introduce you to our speakers and experts in school construction every week.
